HTC Sensation Gingerbread 2.3.4 update for European via OTA

The European HTC Sensation units have just started receiving their 2.3.4 update over-the-air.

They’re intended to be an easy entry into Android land, both costing under $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate. You may be thinking “meh” but don’t judge these droids by their price – the Samsung Exhibit 4G features speedy HSPA+ 3G connectivity (it’s not actually 4G but it does reach 21Mbps download speeds) and a fast 1GHz processor.

TheExhibit 4G runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with TouchWiz on top. You also get a secondary video call camera for video chats. The main camera isn't particularly impressive – it’s a 3MP unit – but any more and it will be encroaching on Galaxy S territory.

The second phone for today is the Samsung Gravity SMART. It’s a messenger at heart with a four-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.2 Froyo with Group Text support (a service that sends a message to up to 50 people). It’s got a 3.2” screen with Swype preinstalled for quick text entry even when the keyboard is closed.
The Samsung Gravity SMART also packs a 3MP camera. Both the Samsung Exhibit 4G and the Gravity SMART are expected to launch some time in June. The leaked T-Mobile roadmap suggests both should be available on 8 June.

Samsung Galaxy S II is going to landing in USA next month

Now here's some good news to you, our droid-loving American friends. The Samsung Galaxy S II monster of
a smartphone will be landing on your shores next month. The confirmation comes from the president of the Samsung mobile division Shin Jong-Kyun, so you should be able to count on that.

The exact quote was "We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August." This means that it might not even take to the end of the month as some earlier rumors suggested.

Of course, Shin Jong-Kyun didn't give any details of potential carrier versions or pricing, but those should
be announced soon enough. The last thing we heard was that the AT&T version will have a redesigned exterior and that maybe the US carrier versions won't have their own names this time.

Update HTC Desire Z to Gingerbread 2.3.3 was released

Amidst all the excitement surrounding the original HTC Desire getting the Android Gingerbread update, the Desire Z owners are probably feeling left out. But you have no reason to feel that way anymore as HTC has started rolling out the Gingerbread update to Desire Z handsets across the world.



This information was provided by HTC a few days back stating that the update will start rolling out in a few weeks but is now being confirmed by carriers that it has already started rolling out in certain countries, such as Vodafone Australia.

The software number for this update is 2.42.861.6 and will update the Android version to 2.3.3 with Sense UI 2.1. The update is rolling out gradually so you may not see anything now but you will soon be getting a notification on your phone asking you to download the 104MB update, so make sure you are latched onto a fast data connection.

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray pre-orders in Germany for £325, get it NOW!

Germany just became the second country, after UK, where you can place pre-orders for the Sony Ericsson
Xperia ray.



The German Amazon site already lists the latest Xperia smartphone and the good news is that its asking price is lower than in the UK.

Amazon.de accepts your pre-orders already, with the handset cost fixed at €369. This translates to just £325, which is notably better than the £350 demanded by UK sellers. Of course, those are all pre-orders so things might change before the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray hits the shelves.

Unfortunately, Amazon.de hasn't given us an estimated launch date for the smartphone yet. Great Britain is said to be getting it on 15 August, but we wouldn't mind if Sony Ericsson finish with the i-dotting
and t-crossing earlier.
